Crystal Beads are made predominantly from glass mixed with a % of lead which gives crystal that special sparkle characteristic evident. The lead makes crystal heavier than similar shaped glass beads and allows for the bead to be cut and given facets (flat polished surfaces) that basically are light reflective giving the crystal that special twinkling effect. The more the number of facets the finer the quality. Most crystals have 32 facets on each bead.
Some crystals are further significantly enhanced with an Aurora Borealis metallic coating finish - the crystals are indentified with either the prefix or suffix AB. This not only increases the brilliance of each crystal but also produces colour changes, as a direct result of variations, in the quality of light reflects from them.
