Glass Pearl Beads are an imitation of real cultered pearl beads the advantage being they are sold at a fraction of the price and available in a wider range of colours. They are very reflective and have a high gloss surface, are light and come in a range of sizes ( The Foolish Fairy stocks 4mm to 14mm)
They are made first with a glass base and surface treated and coated to the colour required. glass pearl beads tend to have a more shiny appearance than cultered pearls. Because of their glass base, glass pearl beads appear luminous and almost have a liquid quality to them. This is particularly evident in the darker coloured beads such as blue, black and red.
Glass pearl beads are very fashionable and extremely effective when used with crystal beads. The facets of the crystal are very complimentary to the smoothness and high gloss of the glass pearl beads.
